How To Read An Aviation Forecast (Webinar Recording)

During your flight training you will get very comfortable accessing and understanding the weather forecasts for your flights. These forecasts will influence your flight planning and may impose limitations or extra requirements on how you go about the flight.

These forecasts can be very confusing when you first come across them. In many cases they are a holdover from older times when internet or radio comm bandwidth was limited. Also when you needed to get the weather by fax at a country motel reception you would also want a condensed format.

Times have changed however this is the international weather forecast system and works all around the world. Pilots flying out of Los Angeles for Brisbane get exactly the same weather format as a helicopter pilot flying from their property into a regional airport.

So lets get stuck into explaining the system and how to read the forecast format.
