Sling / Longline

Sling ratings are for pilots who will be operating in the external load environment or who would like to increase their skill set.

Course:

This course has no minimum hour requirement and as such is competency based training. Depending on the experience and ability of the pilot, allow approximately 5 hours.

For the pilot to learn the basics of picking up the load, controlling the load in a hover, flying a circuit and putting the load on the ground, the flying sequence will begin on a 50 foot sling.  Once these sequences are conducted to a safe and reasonable standard, a 100 foot and 150 foot line are introduced.

Aircraft:

This rating can be conducted in an R44, MD500, AS350 and Bell 206 helicopters.

External helicopters can be used on request.
