Around the world every day there are people relying on helicopters for rescues, disaster relief, transport, firefighting, medical transfers, powerline maintenance, tourism, agriculture and many more roles.

Very few people get to see a helicopter up close or the opportunity to talk to those that work with them. The Open Day will be a chance for locals of all walks of life to inspect several different types of helicopters, listen to talks about how helicopters fly and learn more about helicopter careers.

‘We are pretty passionate about our helicopters and are looking forward to celebrating the first World Day for our industry’ says local flight instructor Mick Cullen. ‘It is a great reason to open the hangar doors and invite members of the public to get up close to a number of helicopter types that they wouldn’t normally be able to do.’

A limited number of helicopter flights will be available on the day for those wishing to take to the air.

Other open days are also planned internationally on the same day in Canada, UK and in the USA with more details avaliable at The hashtag #worldhelicopterday will be used to tie in activity across the globe on different social media platforms.
