Night VFR Rating Training

A Night VFR rating is a very practical qualification as it gives you the ability to pilot an aircraft at night in VMC. It adds a new dimension and new challenges to your visual pilot training. It is an extremely useful skillset giving the ability to conduct flights departing before first light, arriving after last light or entirely at night.
Course:
The requirements for the granting of night VFR ratings include:
• Hold a private, commercial or air transport pilot licence
• Minimum 10 hours flying at night; that includes
• Minimum 5 hours dual cross country
• Minimum 1 hour solo circuits
• Training in the use of at least one Navaid
• There is also a requirement for Minimum 3 hours of basic Instrument flight during the day
• Pass a flight test as per the Manual of Standards
On the successful completion of the course you will have an understanding and ability to conduct basic instrument flying with the use of ground, or space based, navigation aids on flights conducted at night.
Aircraft:
This rating can be conducted in an R44 and Bell 206 helicopters.
External helicopters can be used on request.
Training Season:
The met minima for NVFR are a lot tighter than for day VFR. This means that we need very favourable weather conditions for training flights to go ahead. For us in South East Queensland the most settled weather (and earlier nights) come during the winter. Thus this time of year is the most favourable for night training.
Cost:
The cost will depend on aircraft type. Please contact us on +61 7 3385 9500 for a price.
